Rahu Kaal is a period of about 90 minutes each day that is traditionally avoided for starting new ventures, travel or purchases.
It is calculated by dividing the time between local sunrise and sunset into eight equal parts. Which part is Rahu Kaal depends on the weekday: the 8th part on Sunday, 2nd on Monday, 7th on Tuesday, 5th on Wednesday, 6th on Thursday, 4th on Friday and 3rd on Saturday.
Because sunrise and sunset differ by city and season, the same weekday has different Rahu Kaal timings in Thane, Ahmedabad and London. Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal are calculated in the same manner.
