Which months, Tithis and Nakshatras are traditionally chosen for entering a new home.
Griha Pravesh is the ritual entry into a new home. Traditionally it is done in Uttarayana months, away from Chaturmas and Kharmas, on a stable Nakshatra such as Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Anuradha or Revati.
Rikta Tithis (4, 9, 14), Amavasya and the days around eclipses are avoided.
The ceremony usually includes Ganesh puja, Navgraha and Vastu puja, havan and boiling milk in the new kitchen.
