How the Pradosh Kaal Muhurat is chosen and the basic steps of Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja.
Lakshmi Puja is performed on Ashwin Amavasya during Pradosh Kaal, ideally in a Sthir Lagna. The exact time depends on your city, so check the Diwali page for your location.
Clean the home, decorate the entrance with rangoli and lamps, set up an idol or picture of Lakshmi and Ganesh on a red or yellow cloth, and prepare kalash, fruits, sweets, flowers and coins.
The usual sequence is sankalp, Ganesh puja, kalash puja, Lakshmi puja with Shri Sukta, aarti and prasad.
